April 12 Reflection-Hearing Impairment

This reflection is due Friday, April 16.

Go to this website and find the answers to the following questions. There are 4 pages and you can navigate through them at the bottom of the website.

1- What is a hearing impairment and what causes it?
2- Can it be treated? How?
3- How does a person who is deaf learn and commmunicate?

Check out this video. Notice the lyrics at the bottom. The top lyrics are the exact words. The bottom lyrics are the ASL (American Sign Language) interpretation. Besides hand gestures, how else does a person use their body to express their feelings?

March 9 Reflection-"R" Word Final thoughts

We just finished participating in the Erase the "R" Word campaign and had 466 students and staff pledge to not use the "R" word in their everyday vocabulary.

THANK YOU ALL!

Now that we are finished, tell me what impact the videos we watched had on other students. What did you hear other students saying? Tell me if you have had anyone use different language and recognize it. Just share your thoughts on our efforts in the comment section below.

I've also included a couple of videos that further demonstrate the need to eliminate the "R" word.

Last thing, if you would like to sign the online pledge at http://www.r-word.org/, please do so and encourage your family and friends to do the same.

Just give me a reflection on what impressed you, what surprised you, and maybe even if it inspired you. This will be due Friday, February 5.
