Sept. 8 Reflection: People first language

We began a discussion on how we talk about people with disabilities and how we explain what condition they have. I want you to go to this website link, Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities, and read the article. It is a bit long, but you can get through it.

Once finished, leave a comment demonstrating 3 correct ways to refer to someone with a disability. (Hint, examples are provided at the end of article, or you can be a go-getter and come up with your own.) This is due Friday, Sept.18.

Special Olympics Volunteers Needed!

Hey guys! A lot of you have now learned a little about Special Olympics and we have talked about volunteer opportunities. The Round Rock team will be starting their bowling season on Sept. 16 for elementary and middle school aged athletes. It does say in there you have to be 14 but we want any partners who are interested to please come volunteer. Please let me know if you have any questions.
